In today’s video, we head over to RJ’s Custom Cycles ( @RjsCustomCycles ) to diagnose and repair issues on two 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glides owned by Buckner and Ben. Both bikes were experiencing misfires, rough running, and in some cases running on only one cylinder. After digging into the issue, we discovered the same failure on both motorcycles: broken ignition coil wires.
This problem is becoming increasingly common on 2024 Harley-Davidson Touring models (Road Glide, Street Glide, CVO and non-CVO). The coil wire harness is routed from the factory with a tight zip tie that forces the wires to bend at an extreme angle, eventually causing internal wire breakage. When the wires fail, the bike can misfire, drop a cylinder, lose power, or refuse to idle correctly.
To fix the issue, we picked up a replacement coil wire pigtail from NAMZ, cut out the damaged factory plug, soldered in the new connector, adding some extra length, heat-shrinked the repair, and re-routed the wiring to prevent future failure. After the repair, both 2024 Road Glides fired up clean and ran perfectly again.
